AFFIDAVIT
Poetry Collection • Available Now
Affidavit is a collection of poems that examines motherhood, survival, state violence, memory, and the complicated work of telling the truth. Borrowing its title from a legal document sworn under oath, the collection asks what it means to testify on behalf of one's own life. These poems move through family histories, custody battles, faith, love, and loss, insisting that witness itself can be a form of resistance.
“These poems are relentless: they will not let us pretend that Davis’s body exists apart from its familial or social history; they will not let us go until we accept as evidence the painful truths that the courts can’t hear, but that are always in poetry’s purview.”— Evie Shockley
